Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting function for a growing, multi-entity organization in Omaha. This is a fully onsite leadership role and a key position within the company's management team.
The Controller will oversee all accounting operations, ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, and provide financial leadership to ownership and operational stakeholders. This role requires a strong accounting foundation, proven leadership experience, and hands-on expertise with Sage Intacct, which serves as the company's core accounting platform. The ideal candidate is process-oriented, systems-savvy, and capable of driving both day-to-day execution and long-term accounting improvements.
What You'll Do
- Lead all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash management
- Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and key business metrics
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning activities
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and support annual audit and tax processes
- Evaluate and strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures
- Partner with leadership to provide financial insights and operational support
- Develop, mentor, and lead accounting team members while driving continuous improvement initiatives
- Serve as the internal Sage Intacct subject matter expert and help optimize system utilization
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership responsibility
- Previous Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager experience
- Required: Hands-on Sage Intacct experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience overseeing month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution
