Job Description
The Structural Steel Welder is responsible for welding structural, plate, and miscellaneous steel components according to shop drawings, weld symbols, and quality standards. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to read shop drawings, and experience working in a fabrication environment. The ideal candidate takes pride in workmanship and maintains a strong focus on safety and quality.
Responsibilities:
- Weld structural, plate, and miscellaneous steel assemblies per shop drawings and AISC requirements
- Identify steel shapes, sizes, tolerances, and verify materials prior to welding
- Perform cutting, preheating, grinding, and weld cleanup as required
- Fabricate subassemblies and identify drawing discrepancies early in the process
- Operate forklifts, jib cranes, and overhead cranes to move materials safely
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 6 months of structural steel welding experience or welding certificate/degree
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, weld symbols, and cutting lists
- Ability to pass welding, fitting, and visual acuity tests
- Ability to maintain AWS certification and follow welding procedures

The base salary range for this position is $19-30 per hour, excluding benefits, bonuses, or other compensation. Your final salary will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location, and internal pay equity. Please note, hiring at the top of the range is uncommon to allow room for future salary growth.
